We had a weiner roast at John & Carol Foster's home in
Decatur. In attendance were the co-owners of Pride of the Prairie Motor
Trike Inc. John is also working with someone from Kentucky to get a new
Chapter started. We may plan to work with them together on a ride after
they get going.
The main focus of our next meeting needs to be to plan our Chapter event for
next year. We need to get it on the BTW event calendar ASAP. Bring
your ideas to the next meeting. It will be held in Tuscola on Sunday,
November 18th at 5:00 at the Four Seasons Restaurant (formerly Dixie Truck
Stop).
In August, we met at Paul & Kathie Case's house in Danville.
They planned a great ride through the back roads with scenery of a covered
bridge and beautiful waterfall hidden just off the road pretty much in someone's
back yard. We also had lunch at a great little restaurant called "The Bus
Stop".

In September, we met at the truck stop in Oakland and then
rode to a Danville festival. We discussed a reorganization of our Chapter
Activity Director position. It was decided by a vote of the members in
attendance that we would have a Planning Committee with a "head person" instead
of just a director: Dwight Dunn as head person and Central area, Paul Case as
East area, and Steve Farmer as West area if he was willing to do so. If
this change took place, Joe Novota would then be in the Assistant Director spot.
Steve wanted to talk to his Prairie Dawg members before officially taking on an
office in Pride of the Prairie.
We are also looking for suggestions for events for next year. Suggestions
should be forwarded to one of the Planning Committee members. They will
discuss them and then pass on the ones they decide would work the best to the
group for discussion/vote.
Next meeting will be held on Saturday, October 27th.
See picture page for an idea about the stir we created in
Bloomington. Bandana's Bar-B-Q parking lot was decorated with Pride of the
Prairie Trikes!
No birthdays this month. We talked about who was going to Trike Week, and
who was interested in going to Bug Fest in Effingham on June 2. We won't
be having an official meeting in the area in June since several members will be
meeting up while they are at Trike Week. We are hoping to get with Paul &
Kathie Case to plan for a ride in July to meet, ride into Indiana, and then head
back to Danville for a cookout ... but we need to talk to them about it first.
The photographer from the Pantagraph didn't show up, but MJ was told that
pictures taken with an 8MP digital camera would probably work for the articles
that will be in the Bloomington Pantagraph, Decatur Herald, and
Mattoon/Charleston newspapers.
All we can say is WOW! We had 23 in attendance at our
April meeting held at Carlos O'Kellys in Decatur!
The dues issue was revisited and reset back to the $12/person/year - this issue
will be brought up again in 2 years
We celebrated the birthdays of Sly Martin and Bob Hill. Financial reports
are open to any members. An officer from Mid-West Trikers in Colchester
was also a guest in attendance. He suggested doing raffles at the meetings
and events to raise extra money for the Chapter. Mary Jo can order 250
business cards free from Vista Prints each time she places an order, and had
designed some that are nice. If you want a set, let her know.
Next meeting is set for Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Bandana's Barbecue (6:00) in
Bloomington, IL. The photographer from The Pantagraph is supposed to be
there so everyone is encouraged to RIDE. Members are getting together at
different starting locations to make the ride to Bloomington together.

since the writer from the Decatur Herald will be there to talk to us. John
Foster has reserved the back room of the restaurant under "BTW".
Elections were held for Officers for the next two years. Our new director
is John Foster. The director of the Springfield Chapter is going to be a
member of our Chapter too. He is going to act as an assistant director
along with Joe Novota since he has been the Director of the Prairie Dawgs.
